RIDE RECAP 2020-10-17: FALL COLOR RIDE (IRISH HILLS AREA, MI)

The 2020 edition of the local Fall Color Ride was the coldest ride I have led to date.  When I left my house at 9:00 AM  in 2018 it was 38F.  Leave it to 2020 to not be undone.  I was in my front room gearing up when I asked (she who should not be named) what the temperature outside was.  It promptly replied with “Currently outside it is 34 degrees Fahrenheit.  You can expect an overcast day today with a high of 58.” In response to this reply a maniacal laughter started in the back of my head and promptly escaped filling the room with existential sound.  To keep others in the house from being concerned I mounted my Versys and headed out.

2018-07-27 THROUGH 2018-07-29: Lower Great Lakes SS1K IRON BUTT (Monroe, MI)

Why do we do these things?  Climbers climb mountains, runners run marathons, swimmers swim channels, motorcyclist…well, there’s just something defective about some of us.  Which is why those of us afflicted with this malady attempt to complete a Saddle Sore 1000 Iron Butt ride.

Ride Recap Wednesday 2017-05-17: Great Lakes Eatery & Pub (Dundee, MI)

Wednesday (winds-day) lived up to its name.  High gusts of wind were blustering across the Target parking lot as the motorcycles filed in.  It was great to see the great mix of new, experienced, and not often seen members show up for the 56 mile (1:40) ride to Great Lakes Eatery & Pub.

Ride Recap 2017-04-18: JR’s Pub and Grill (Tecumseh, MI)

Looking back at last year’s ride report I noticed that I had moved the ride up one day because of the weather forecast.  If you do something two years in a row is it considered a tradition?

The forecast for Wednesday this year was a fifty percent chance of rain when I checked earlier in the week and today it is eighty percent.  I still feel vindicated by moving this year’s ride up one day to Tuesday.
