This year’s annual summer picnic saw 27 club members, family, and guests join in on the fun at Hickory Ridge Pines Park on what turned out to be a spectacular mid-70s°F day.

With half of Livingston County under construction, I decided to create a route a little further east of our usual haunts. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the West Bloomfield area, so I cherry picked some of the better roads around there and threw something together.

It seems I’ve got a penchant for attracting attention. I may not have broken the all-time attendance record, but I think I did set it for number of new club members and guests — we had a whopping four riders on their maiden voyage with the FMC, plus 17 seasoned vets, for a total of 21 motorcyclists.

The I-275 construction project is gonna be a big topic for this year’s season. Our singular, central meetup spot has become two: one north and one south. The previous week, Charles led the club on a ride departing from the north meetup, so I chose to trial run the south – the BP station at Haggerty and Ecorse.
